Just updated the TMCD1 (we are going to call it something different, can’t remember what now) playlist on Fairtilizer. Probably going to add 1, maybe 2 more songs (maybe including a cover) and then put the whole lot up for download and maybe make a few CDs too. Won’t that be nice?

Oh, there’s someting new on the remixes page as well. Hmmmm….

Erm…Happy 2009!

Hello. Let’s say this is the first PROPER POST of 2009 shall we? The last one was just me getting excited about the Watchmen film. Again. So how are you all? Doing well. That’s nice.

First of all a quick site update. I’ve recently had to move the blog to a slightly different bit of the internet and, shock horror, I now have to actually start paying for my webspace. I do want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Sam Shelton who’s been hosting this site and the Toy #1 site for me pretty much since day 1. I have to say it is quite cool though to actually ‘own’ tigermendoza.co.uk now but’s that’s more geek-ery than anything else. Moving the site around has meant changing a couple of things behind the scenes so if you do spot any links not working or anything else weird please let me know.

As for new music, the start of 2009 was weird because once I got back from a brilliant holiday, I found it really difficult to create anything I thought was good and wanted to continue. I think I’m coming out of it now though and there’s a couple new things which need a little tweaking but should be ready very shortly (including a couple of new songs with Helena) and maybe even some gigs. We’ll see how it goes. I’ve also been thing of adding a mixtapeshow.net style regular podcast to the site but we’ll see.

Untill next time then, here’s something I started right at end of 2008 and tweaked today.

“Yankin’ it like an Atari Joystick”

A while back I did a remix / re-version of a song by my old band Toy #1 called Atari Joystick. Dan from the band asked me if I still had it but somehow I’ve managed to lose the final mp3 and the source files so here’s the 2008 redux version.

Hang Drum remixed [Update]

There’s a video that’s been around on video sites like youtube that’s been around for a while now which I’ve been slightly obsessed with ever since the first time I saw it. Manu Delago posted a video of a solo piece he did on an instrument called a Hang which I’d seen before but never heard played properly. I just LOVED the sound the things were making. When I heard it I really wanted to do something with it. Not too much but just……enhance it maybe? Re-edit it? I dunno. But I found out I could do video editing in good old ableton so I thought I’d give it a go. Here’s the result:

Ahhh they’ve done it again. Radiohead have released ‘stems’ for one of the tracks off of In Rainbows and I couldn’t resist having a go. Here’s my widget:

It was actually harder to remix this one than it was doing the Nude remix a while back even if this one is in 4/4. The structure isn’t as straight forward ya see, extra bars and stuff. This is actually my second attempt at it. I tried to be truer to the actual structure the first time and it just didn’t work. Ah, whatever – I like it!

When I first heard about this Radiohead remix I thought that I wouldn’t go anywhere near it what with it being one of my favourite sngs from In Rainbows. But ah well, who could resist messing around with Radiohead seperates eh? Here’s my widget:

Wonderwall + Oxford Snakes

I don’t know why I haven’t posted this on here sooner but here’s my take on Ryan Adams’ version of Wonderwall:

It’s kind of a dark indusrial hip hop take version which I thought came together nicely after messing around with Ableton Live

Also I’ve done a remix for Oxford Band Hammer vs The Snake which also came out pretty well so here it is:

As far as I know they like it and it may be going out on an e.p. they’re putting together soon but that hasn’t been confirmed yet. Cheers to the band for letting a complete stranger mess around with their song.
I’ve also been messing around with my 4-track, my new guitar and Mr. Sean Mills on some completly stripped down acoustic stuff. When I’ve finished it, I’ll probably stick it up on here as well but I’ll save that for another time….
