  • LIBRE out NOW!!! + Competition to win a ticket to DJ Shadow on Thursday!

Yes you’ve read that right. Go listen and download our new ep for FREE from https://www.tigermendoza.co.uk/libre.

We’re really happy with it and the response to the previews that have gone out so far have been great. We’ll be giving out a very limited number of CDs at the gig on thursday as well.

That’s not all though. We’re giving away a ticket to the DJ Shadow gig at the O2 Academy, Oxford this Thursday (which by the way we’re also playing at) to one lucky downloader! To win, once you’ve signed up to download the ep, add a comment to this post saying “I WANT TO GO SEE DJ SHADOW!” and we’ll pick a name out of the proverbial hat. Simple.

    A couple of rules though:

    • One entry per person please
    • We can’t provide transport so you’ll have to be able to make you’re own way to the O2, Oxford.
    • Winner will be selected tomorrow (Tuesday 6th December) at 9pm.

    Good luck!

  • 2 new remixes for FREE download!

In honour of our next gig at The O2 Academy next Saturday, we thought we would give people a small taster of what they can expect from our set so, ladies and gentlemen, we present a little 2 track free download called ‘Take Our Their Legs’.
    totl
The 2 tracks are a dub mix of The Circus and a ‘Live’ mix of My House which were both on Aim For the Head.
Downloads available from Bandcamp in a variety of different formats and Soundcloud as 192kbps MP3s. Let us know what you think and tell your friends.

Oh, and just checking, your all coming the *amazing* gig happening next Saturday yeah? Good. Just checking.

  • Pre-Christmas Thank Yous and Stems!

The past year has been pretty crazy for Tiger Mendoza. We’ve managed to play gigs, record an album and recruited 2 new members. I’d say that was a big win of a year. The gigs we had over the past couple of weeks were a really good experience. It’s fair to say that the 2nd gig was a lot tighter (and to be fair a lot more fun) but a big THANK YOU to Daisy Rogers and Swiss Concrete and Gappy for having us. And obviously THANK YOU to all of the people that came to see us. Dan Paxton has some great pics from the gigs up on Flickr profile.

In a return of good will and good Christmas spirit I’ve uploaded some remixable stems to the Aim For The Head page which you remix to your hearts content. If you do create anything please do share it via Soundcloud or Official.FM.

As for what next year will hold, Tiger Mendoza will continue and there will be more music but the lineup will have change as Helena and Sally are going off to do other things for a bit. We have got a show lined up for March in Oxford but full details are still TBC for that. But trust me it will be great. Oh Yes.

  • An update

The blog posts have been relatively quiet (although the twitter posts haven’t) but that’s because there’s been a lot of stuff happening in the background so here’s a bit of a summary.

    New Music:
We are working on a new 11 track album called ‘Aim For The Head’. The backing tracks are almost completed and we’ll be doing the vocals over the next couple of weeks. There’s also the possibility of putting out a little ep type thing with some semi acoustic stuff and a new song (which Dan came up with the music for) which doesn’t quite fit on the album. We’re hoping to complete it all in time for some gigs we’ve lined up which leads me nicely on to…

    Gigs:
We’re very excited to say we’ve got the following gigs lined up:
10th December – The Jericho, Oxford
17th December – The Wheatsheaf, Oxford

This will be the first time that all 4 of us have played live together in front of people (and may well be the last time we get to play together for a while) so we’re really looking forward to it. Full lineups and ticket prices for both nights are still tbc but we’ll let you know more as soon as we do. We’re still keeping an eye out for other gigs though so get in contact if you would like us to come to a venue near you.

    Site updates:
I’ve been tweaking and rearranging stuff on the site for a little while so hopefully things should be a bit easier to find and bit to manage from this end. In particular, have a look at the new look gigs and music pages and the brand new about and video pages and let me know what you think via comment, contact or twitter.

    Other:
The brilliant Lee from Prohibition Smokers’ Club has let me loose on a remix of one of their new tracks which should be out fairly soon. There may well be a couple of other things coming up as well but their not quite ready to tell you about yet. Should be able to soon though.

So as you can see quite a a lot has been happening which has been keeping us busy but definitely in a good way. We’re really looking forward to putting the new stuff out for people to listen to and to playing live so exciting times ahead. In the mean time, have a listen to this.

  • Never Be The Same (Applejack Mix) – Download

For anyone that’s arrived here after listening to or reading about ‘Never Be The Same’ on the UkeHunt.com podcast, here you go:

  • Mmmmmm…Mellotron…

We’re putting together stuff for out next little ep / mini album and while I was going through some of my unfinished bits and pieces I found this little thing based around a loop I created using a Mellotron emulator:

The thing is I don’t really know what to do with it so I’ve put the stems up on the net for people to do with as they wish.

So here you go. Stems are all 44kHz wavs with ableton info files and all files are released under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 license.

If you do create anything, send it to me via my Soundcloud drop box:
