“Tiger Mendoza Presents…” vinyl available to pre-order and #IsolationWave live streams

I hope you’re all doing as well as can be expected given the circumstances. As you may be aware the launch gig for the single had to be postponed due the CV crisis however I just wanted to let you know that the single is now available to pre-order now on bandcamp via All Will Be Well Records. It may take a bit longer than expected to get the vinyl out to you but you you’ll get an immediate digital download of both tracks which you can play to your heart’s content. The tracks will also be available on all of the usual streaming services from Monday 6th April. Click here for more info.

Also a MASSIVE thank you to everyone that joined the first TM #IsolationWave live stream on YouTube! I didn’t really know what to expect to be honest but the people that joined seemed to like it. You can listen and watch back to the stream below. I’m going to try and do a stream once a week while this lockdown is in the UK on Wedneday nights from 7:45pm BST. For more info and links, have a look on Facebook or YouTube.

Things are pretty crazy at the moment and for what it’s worth a massive personal Thank You from me to all of the frontline workers in shops, doing deliveries, and especially all of the workers in the NHS that are doing whatever they can to contain this thing. In this unprecedented and surreal situation, YOU are amazing!

  • Who Put The Bomp (In The Bomp, Bomp, Bomp)? (For Tom O’Brien)

This year I’ve been lucky enough to be asked to be a party DJ for Helena and Dan’s weddings and a close family friend’s birthday. Unfortunately Tom O’Brien passed away before I got the chance to DJ at his 70th birthday but I know that this was one of his favourite songs and would have definitely been on the playlist. It would mean a lot to me if could have a listen, maybe smile and share it with friends and, if you want to, send a few pennies to www.myaware.org. I’m sure that they would appreciate it.

    Cheers, Ian

  • Red Cross Japanese Tsunami Appeal

I’m sure by now you’ve all seen the images in the media that have come back in the wake of the earthquake and Tsunami that hit Japan. It seems as though things are going pretty crazy around the world with the troubles in Egypt and Libya and the earthquake in New Zealand but this has hit a little closer to home. Helena lived in Japan for a while and her experiences in the country influenced the lyrics to our songs ‘Tokyo Triangle’ and ‘Last Train To Chiba’ and it’s a place that is still very close her. We also have other friends with very strong links to Japan so I thought I would put a message out.

I appreciate that money wise, things are a tough at the moment and there are a number of high profile charities trying to get your money for different causes but if you can spare anything and would like to donate to the Red Cross’ Appeal, click on this link or on the image below.

    Cheers, Ian

  • Pre-Christmas Thank Yous and Stems!

The past year has been pretty crazy for Tiger Mendoza. We’ve managed to play gigs, record an album and recruited 2 new members. I’d say that was a big win of a year. The gigs we had over the past couple of weeks were a really good experience. It’s fair to say that the 2nd gig was a lot tighter (and to be fair a lot more fun) but a big THANK YOU to Daisy Rogers and Swiss Concrete and Gappy for having us. And obviously THANK YOU to all of the people that came to see us. Dan Paxton has some great pics from the gigs up on Flickr profile.

In a return of good will and good Christmas spirit I’ve uploaded some remixable stems to the Aim For The Head page which you remix to your hearts content. If you do create anything please do share it via Soundcloud or Official.FM.

As for what next year will hold, Tiger Mendoza will continue and there will be more music but the lineup will have change as Helena and Sally are going off to do other things for a bit. We have got a show lined up for March in Oxford but full details are still TBC for that. But trust me it will be great. Oh Yes.

  • An update

Hello! It’s been a bit quiet on the Tiger Mendoza front for a while so I thought I’d put out a quick update.

    Remixes:
The Missing on the Motorway mix I put together for the DJ Shadow remix comp has been selected to be a bonus track on the download version of the compilation that’s coming out to accompany the competition. Shame it didn’t get on the actual CD but still cool to be associated.

Oscar TG asked me if I wanted to do a remix of his track ‘Run with the flame’ which will be coming out on Red Robot records soon. A big thank you to Oscar, Will Scarlett and Flipt for letting me mess with their song!

There are a couple of other things that I’m working on as well but their not 100% confirmed yet but hopefully more news soon….

    New tunes:
We are writing new stuff at the moment and hope to have some sort of release out probably in September. Dan O’Driscoll will be joining on guitar (along with Helena on vocals and Sally on bass) so that’s nice. Will definitely help when we do live gigs as well (which we’re also going to try and do later this year).

Anyway, that’s it for now. Cheers to anyone that’s shown an interest in this little project in any way. There will be some new tunes for you to listen to soon hopefully but due to some ‘personal commitments’, the tunes have had to be put on hold for a bit. Here’s small bootleg to tide you over in the mean time.

    Cheers,
    Ian

  • Dark Night of the Soul CANNED!

    dnots_big
The last time Dangermouse and Sparklehorse got together was on the brilliant ‘Dreamt for lightyears in the belly of a Mountain’ which has become one of my favourite albums. When the mysterious posters started appearing I got excited. So to hear that this brilliant album may never be officially released due to issues with the record label is just rubbish. Therefore I feel you all need to hear the album (by visiting here or maybe even here) and buy the book / cd-r package. Trust me you do want to.
